If you have black hair no matter how you look at it you will have to strip the color from your hair which is not good for your hair. I am not saying that you would have to stip all the color from it but any form of lightening is stripping it. You wouldnt be dying it. Dying your hair is when you are adding color to it . Just like when you dye clothes. You can add color and change a lighter color to a darker color but to change a dark color to a lighter color you have to strip the color from it first. Black hair has a way of usually coming out a redish color no matter what and not brown.
